MOSTAR, March 12 /SRNA/ - Head of the General Council of the Croatian National Assembly /HNS/, Bozo Ljubic, has warned today that the elections can be held without amending the BiH Election Law, but no new governments will be formed at the levels of BiH, the FBiH and the cantons.

"If the Election Law of BiH is not amended in accordance with the BiH Constitutional Court’s decisions, the elections can be held, but the governments will be only formed in Republika Srpska and the Brcko District. It will not be possible to elect members for the House of Peoples of the FBiH Parliament, and therefore FBiH President , the FBiH Government, the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliament, thus the Council of Ministers of BiH will not make any sense," Ljubic has said.

At press conference that took place after the session of the HNS General Council, he has emphasized that those who obstruct amending the BiH Election Law will bear responsibility for such a situation.

"The interest of the Croats in BiH is to bring the electoral process back to the constitutional framework. We are ready to talk, but there is no compromise when it comes to constitutionality and equality. The HNS's position is that amendments to the Election Law of BiH must include amendments to the House of Peoples of the FBiH Parliament and the Presidency of BiH,” Ljubic has said.

He has added that he hopes there will be no need for the OHR to intervene and that there is enough time to reach an agreement.

Deputy Chairperson of the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliament, Barisa Colak, has said that the HNS has prepared some other proposals, but that it does not make sense to use them unlessl there is a willingness to respect the principles of legal representation by the other party.

Colak has added that after recent meetings organised by the EU Delegation and the US Embassy in BiH related to amending the Election Law of BiH, there were no party activities on this issue. /end/vos
