ŠAMAC, April 15 /SRNA/ - Republika Srpska President Željka Cvijanović said on Monday that she had enormous mistrust in [the way of] meting out justice in BiH and the implementation of the Strategy for War Crimes Processing because there were many examples of selective justice and politically motivated judgments.

“I am sorry for having to say this. We had situations where there was evidence and there were witnesses and everything that is needed to arrive at a punishment, but it did not happen,” Cvijanović told reporters in Šamac commenting on the beginning of a trial of the former commander of the 5th Corps of the so-called Army of the Republic of BiH, Atif Dudaković.

Cvijanović said that everything that had been planned to be in the service of quicker reconciliation and greater cohesion, partnership, and understanding in society and among the constituent peoples had turned against all these efforts like a boomerang.

A trail of Gen. Atif Dudaković and another 16 members and commanders of the 5th Corps of the so-called Army of BiH on charges of crimes against Serbs in the area of the Krajina in 1995 started on Monday before the BiH Court.

The Prosecutor’s Office of BiH charges the accused with crimes against humanity, which include the killing of more than 300 Serbs, the persecution and torture of civilians and prisoners of war, and the destruction of 38 Orthodox churches and religious buildings. /end/sg
