BANJALUKA, APRIL 9 /SRNA/ - Republika Srpska President Željka Cvijanović expressed today on behalf of institutions and citizens huge gratitude for Russia’s aid in curbing the spread of the coronavirus in Srpska, noting that this gesture is the confirmation of good relations and understanding between Srpska and Russia.

She told reporters that the aid, which arrived at the airport in Banjaluka, includes people, medical experts who will help local health care providers, equipment, disinfectants and activities that will be conducted to fight the virus.

“We will get all this in this shipment. This is the first of the three flights that will arrive during the day. The aid includes medical experts and specialists, disinfectants, ventilators, protective masks and all equipment needed by hospitals,” Cvijanović said.

She has said that the aid was sent at the request of the Republika Srpska leadership and that it arrived very quickly after talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

“We are grateful and this aid shows much more than the mere struggle to survive these difficult times. We know that Russia has its problems with the virus, just like other countries, but during all these efforts they are investing at home, they responded and helped everyone who needed it. Also, this is the confirmation of our good relations and understanding,” said Cvijanović.

She has said she is certain that everyone who asks would get aid from Russia, which was seen in the case of Italy.

Cvijanović has said that the FBiH would also get aid if it would address Russia.

The first shipment of medical equipment and aid that includes people from Russia needed for the fight against the coronavirus epidemic arrived today at Mahovljani Airport in Banjaluka. /end/sg
