DŽAFEROVIĆ CALLING FOR PASSAGE OF BILL WHICH WOULD REINTRODUCE VERBAL OFFENCE IN BiH

BANJALUKA, JULY 10 /SRNA/ - Serb BiH Presidency member Milorad Dodik has told Srna that the BiH Presidency did not give its approval to the permanent UN Mission to BiH to take part in organizing a commemoration which was held today online by certain UN Security Council members and which was addressed by Bosniak Presidency member Šefik DŽaferović.

“Positions DŽaferović presented on the occasion are not positions of the BiH Presidency but his personal positions,” Dodik said.

Asked by Srna to comment on DŽaferović’s address in which he presented his opinion that a law “banning the denial of genocide” should be adopted, the Serb Presidency member has stressed that the passage of such a law would reintroduce verbal offense in BiH.

“This would distance us from truth and reconciliation, and I am afraid, would permanently have us stuck in the period of tragic events in BiH,” Dodik said.

He expressed deep regret over all the victims in Srebrenica and surrounding villages, regardless of whether they are Serbs or Bosniaks, and called on everyone to arrive at much-needed truth about events in Srebrenica and surrounding villages in the period from 1992 to 1995, without bans and taboos. /end/sg
