BIJELJINA, JULY 15 /SRNA/ - The wheat harvest is nearing its end in the Semberija fields, the yield of which ranges from five to 10 tons per hectare, it was published on Bijeljina City Administration’s website.

Sreten Vučkovič of the city's Department of Agriculture points out the local producers can be satisfied with the yield and quality of this year's crop, considering that the production takes place in specific conditions.

"According to the Department of Agriculture’s estimates, about 50 percent of wheat fields was sown outside the optimal period due to the dry autumn, March and April without rain were not suitable for wheat, but precipitation during May significantly improved the yield and quality of this cereal," said Vučković.

Vučković states the good quality of wheat is also indicated by moisture parameters that at the time of harvest was between 11.5 and 14.5 percent, while the hectoliter mass of grain in the Semberija fields ranged from 80 to 82, which is why higher flour yield can be expected from the harvested grain.

Republika Srpska wheat producers have been provided with an incentive of BAM 300 per hectare of wheat field. /end/vos
