SARAJEVO, SEPTEMBER 30 /SRNA/ - During a meeting with Turkish Ambassador to BiH Haldun Koc on Wednesday in Sarajevo, Council of Ministers Chairman Zoran Tegeltija stressed the importance of increasing the BiH – Turkey red meat exports quota, adding that he expected the quota to be increased by additional 2,000 tons this year.


Tegeltija said BiH could offer quality products in an expanded scope, and pointed out that the economic relations between the two countries would be significantly improved in such way, the Council of Ministers announced.

He expressed hope that the new free trade agreement between the two countries would further improve economic relations and be mutually beneficial, and stressed the need to complete procedures regarding agreement’s entry into force.

Tegeltija informed Koc that the development of the programme of the new investment cycle and relief of the economy for the period 2021-2022 was in progress, as well as the local economy protection programme, and pointed out that the opening of the Consulate General of Turkey in Banjaluka was a very important step to further improve cooperation and create new investment opportunities.

The current economic situation caused by the coronavirus pandemic was discussed at the meeting, as well as the possibilities of improving the cooperation between the two countries in areas of mutual interest.

The chairman of the Council of Ministers said that in the context of remediation of coronavirus pandemic impacts, it was necessary to prevent the humanitarian and health crisis, and to enable economic activity and the gradual recovery of the economy.

It was concluded at the meeting that the relations between BiH and Turkey were good, without outstanding issues, with room for further improvement of cooperation, primarily in the field of agriculture, transport and infrastructure, reads the announcement. /end/vos
