BANJALUKA, February 19 /SRNA/ - Republika Srpska Minister of Energy and Mining Petar Djokic and Acting CEO of the transmission company Elektroprivreda Republike Srpske Luka Petrovic on Tuesday signed a concession agreement for the construction and utilisation of hydroelectric power plants Foca and Paunci on the Drina worth around EUR245 million.

"Estimated installed capacity of Foca HPP is 44.15 megawatts and of HPP Paunci 43.21 megawatts. The concession has been granted for 50 years and the hydroelectric power plants will be built within six years from the signing at the latest,” reports the Ministry of Energy and Mining.

Djokic and Petrovic pointed out that Serbia had made a substantial contribution to the energy project and shown an interest in taking part in building the plants, which was confirmed at the latest joint session of the Mixed Energy Committee of Serbia and Republika Srpska.

The Minister of Energy and Mining underlined it was the duty of Elektroprivreda Republike Srpske to form a concession company which would enter a contractual agreement with the Serbian Transco Elektroprivreda Srbije for building these energy facilities and added that implementation and further steps on the project would be harmonised at the next session of the two governments. /end/ds
