BANJALUKA, June 14 /SRNA/ - Serb member of the BiH Presidency Milorad Dodik said in Banjaluka Friday evening that the motorways were important for the economic and any other development of Republika Srpska, but that there would be no motorways without Republika Srpska.

"Without Republika Srpska, there would be no the Republika Srpska Motorways Public Enterprise, and without it, there would not be motorways. I am convinced that there would be no motorways without Republika Srpska. Thus the fact that Republika Srpska is there is important to us," Dodik said in his address at the celebration of 10th anniversary of the Republika Srpska Motorways Public Enterprise.

Dodik said he was proud that he had been together with this company all those years and that they worked together on very important issues.

“Today, 10 years later, during which it was necessary to bring all the plans and to start with their implementation, 100 kilometers of motorways remain behind us and the company as part of motorway network, which need to revitalize Republika Srpska and make it better when it comes to road network, to connect and speed up road network between our cities and across the region and to be the basis for economic and any other development," Dodik said.

He said that the construction of the Rača-Bijeljina road is ahead of us, including other roads planned along the route from Banjaluka via Doboj, Modriča to Bijeljina, and the connection from Višegrad to East Sarajevo, as well as the roads from Zvornik via Milići, Sokolac and Han Pijesak.

"There is also the Banjaluka-Prijedor road for which certain arrangements have been agreed earlier, while the Banjaluka-Kupres section should be the part of this network," Dodik said.

Dodik reminded that at the time the decision to form the Republike Srpske Motorways company was made, it seemed almost like an incredible mission and unrealistic dreams for many.

Republika Srpska National Assembly Speaker Nedeljko Čubrilović said the motorways are not just about the traffic.

"This is the road to development, the road to investments, the road to industrial construction of Republika Srpska," said Čubrilović.

Republika Srpska Prime Minister Radovan Višković said there were 106 kilometers of motorways built in Republika Srpska nowadays.

"The Republika Srpska Government plan to construct 420 kilometers of fast roads and motorways, thus I hope that this will be a viable goal in the next 10 years," Višković pointed out at the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Republika Srpska Motorways Public Enterprise."

Višković stated that all parts of Republika Srpska will be connected then via motorways and fast roads along with the rehabilitation of main roads, thus achieving a balanced development of Republika Srpska.

Director of the Republika Srpska Motorways Dusan Topić said that during the ten years of this public enterprise’s business operation, 106 kilometers of motorway were built and new projects were prepared, which would result in modern traffic infrastructure in the favour of Srpska’s development.

Talking about new projects, Topić stressed that the focus was on the construction of Bijeljina - border with Serbia - Rača motorway, which was in the first priority group

"The Banjaluka-Doboj motorway has already been built, and the construction of a section on the Corridor Vc Doboj-Vukoslavlje is about to begin. The construction of one part begins on Monday, and the negotiations for the second part with potential partners are in the final stage," Topić said.

He pointed out that the decision on developing subdivision plan for the sections Vukosavlje-Brčko and Brčko-Bijeljina-Rača, adopted at the last session of the Republika Srpska National Assembly, was very important because that was the course Srpska was taking to meet the activities that came from Serbia.

The Republika Srpska Motorways Public Enterprise started operations on June 1, 2009.

On November 10, 2006, the Government of Republika Srpska issued a decision to establish this company with the aim of managing motorways and fast roads in Republika Srpska. /end/vos
