FILA: THEY WANT TO BAN DODIK FROM POLITICAL ACTIVITY - BOSNIAKS' BiH IS GOAL
BELGRADE, FEBRUARY 20 /SRNA/ - Attorney Toma Fila says that those standing behind the trial of Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik before the Court of BiH are primarily interested in banning him from political activity in order to achieve the ultimate goal, which is the creation of a single-national state of Bosniaks with Serbs and Croats as national minorities.
"The prosecutor is talking nonsense /in his closing argument in the trial before the Court of BiH/, because he does not expect Dodik to get 10 years in prison, but he expects him to be banned from political activities for at least five years," Fila told SRNA. They hope, says Fila, that under such conditions they would succeed in overthrowing Republika Srpska. "As soon as you ban Dodik from engaging in politics, the collapse of Republika Srpska will follow. That is the ultimate goal - the creation of a single-national state in which Bosniaks would be the most numerous, and Serbs and Croats would be national minorities, not equal, as per the Dayton Peace Agreement," Fila said. The prominent Serbian lawyer points out that the whole situation surrounding the trial would be very simple if international law was respected. "Neither by international law nor by this one, Dodik cannot be held criminally responsible because Christian Schmidt was not elected properly. But they are not interested in the punishment, but the legal consequence, which is a ban on engaging in politics," Fila said. He reminded that the freedom of speech and opinion of every person, including Dodik, is guaranteed by the Constitution of BiH and every constitution, which cannot be prohibited by any act. Closing arguments were presented before the Court of BiH in Sarajevo yesterday in the case against Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik and the acting director of the Official Gazette Miloš Lukić for "disobeying Christian Sshmidt's decisions". The first-instance judgment scheduled for Wednesday, February 26. The BiH Prosecutor's Office requested that the president of Republika Srpska be punished with a prison sentence that is closer to the maximum than the minimum for "disobeying Christian Schmidt's decisions," and a 10-year ban on political activity. The Republika Srpska Government stated last night at a special session that it will take all necessary measures and activities within its jurisdiction with the aim of protecting the institutions, property and interests of the Republika Srpska citizens.
