SELAK: THE STRUGGLE FOR A LEGAL STATE LIES AHEAD; OUR STRENGTH IS IN UNITY AND CONSTITUTION OF BiH

BANJA LUKA, FEBRUARY 26 /SRNA/ - The president of the Socialist Party of Srpska /SPS/, Goran Selak, told SRNA that the party would consistently respect and protect the institutions of Republika Srpska, especially the President of the Republic and that the fight for the rule of law will continue.

"Our strength lies in unity, but also in the Constitution of BiH. The first-instance verdict of the Court of BiH against the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, raises many questions and further complicates the political situation in BiH. SPS advocates for the rule of law and the legal state, which means that laws must be passed in accordance with established legislative procedures, at the level of BiH in the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, and at the level of Republika Srpska in the National Assembly of Republika Srpska," Selak told SRNA regarding the first-instance verdict against the President of Srpska. He added that any action contrary to these principles undermines legal security and citizens' trust in institutions. "Support for the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, is simultaneously support for a stable Republika Srpska. This support also means support for the Constitution of Republika Srpska and the Constitution of BiH, because only a strong Republika Srpska and a constitutional BiH can guarantee security for all citizens, a future, and the preservation of our national interests," said the leader of the SPS. According to him, the SPS will continue to consistently advocate for the respect of constitutional and legal principles. "If we want to be part of the European family of nations, we must say goodbye to foreign influences in the judicial and political processes, and make BiH a functional, sovereign, and legal state, a constitutional state, where the rights of every citizen will be equally respected. Only an organized and just society can guarantee stability and a perspective for all of us," said Goran Selak, president of the SPS.
