NUMBER OF TOURISTS INCREASED BY 2.8 PERCENT IN FIRST THREE MONTHS

BANJALUKA, May 2 /SRNA/ – Republika Srpska was visited by 94,057 tourists during the first three months of this year, which is an increase of 2.8 percent compared to last year, according to the Tourist Organization of Srpska. Most tourists come from the region, as well as from Turkiye, Austria, China, Germany, and Italy.
In the first three months of this year, tourists realized 256,966 overnight stays, representing an increase of 2.7 percent compared to the same period last year. Public relations associate Sanela Šimun told SRNA that mountain destinations saw a 7.7 percent increase in overnight stays in the first three months of this year compared to last year. "Spa destinations recorded a 2.4 percent increase, while other tourist destinations with attractive features — climatic, cultural-historical, and river or lake areas — saw a growth of 1.5 percent," Šimun said. She noted that in the first two months of this year, visitors stayed an average of 2.7 days. "As in the previous year, the largest number of visits, aside from domestic tourists, came from neighboring countries—Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia, and Montenegro. Among other countries, the most visitors came from Turkiye, Austria, China, Germany, and Italy," Šimun stated. She added that domestic tourists had the highest number of overnight stays in destinations with attractive features —climatic, cultural-historical, and river or lake areas. "This is followed by spa destinations, mountain destinations, and other places that cannot be classified into any of the listed groups but have hospitality facilities for accommodation," Šimun added. She also noted that foreign tourists had the most overnight stays in spa resorts, other tourist destinations and mountain areas.
