GRAORAC: CRIME AGAINST JNA SOLDIERS IN TUZLA WAS PLANNED

BANJA LUKA, May 14 /SRNA/ – Isidora Graorac, the head of the Organisation of Families of Captured, Fallen Soldiers and Missing Civilians, says the attack on the convoy of the Yugoslav People's Army /JNA/ in Tuzla was a planned crime for which no one has been held accountable, even though it was broadcast live on television and thus documented.
"This crime is just one in a series of operations against the Serb people, where there was no possibility to save the lives of young, unprepared soldiers who faced the killings, captivity, abuse and torture," Graorac told SRNA. She reminded that Muslim forces did not respect the agreement on the peaceful withdrawal of JNA personnel from Tuzla, but once again betrayed the Serbs, just days after the atrocities in Dobrovoljačka Street in Sarajevo. "With TV crews present, we witnessed a crime in the centre of Tuzla against JNA members, which was a regular army," Graorac said. She emphasized that, even three decades later, no one has been held accountable for this crime - investigations were launched with no court verdict. Tomorrow in Tuzla will mark the 33rd anniversary of the crime committed by Muslim forces against members of the Yugoslav People's Army /JNA/, as well as the exodus of the Serb people from that area. On May 15, 1992, Muslim forces attacked a JNA convoy in Tuzla that was, according to a previously agreed-upon arrangement, supposed to peacefully withdraw from the military barracks in the city. 54 JNA soldiers were killed, 78 wounded and 44 captured during the attack, of whom five were later executed, while the others were tortured and abused.
