KOVAČEVIĆ: SNSD WAS ELECTED TO POWER BY SERBS, NOT BOSNIAKS OR CROATS

SARAJEVO, MAY 29 /SRNA/ – Serb delegate in the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly, Radovan Kovačević, stated today at the session of the House of Peoples that the SNSD was not elected to power by Bosniaks or Croats, but by the citizens of Republika Srpska.
“When you claim to have a majority, why don’t you remove [Kemal] Ademović and prove the principles you claim to stand for? I said at the very first session that I was voting with a heavy heart, against all my principles, and that, if the BiH Constitution were interpreted correctly, Ademović should never have been in the Collegium. But even then, I acknowledged that we had a consistent majority in both chambers of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH,” Kovačević explained, adding that he regrets that decision. Kovačević pointed out that the Bosniak caucus is seeking support for the removal of a Serb elected in the elections from a minority segment of the Serb delegates. Addressing Želimir Nešković (SDS) from the Serb caucus, Kovačević emphasized that the SNSD was not brought into power by Bosniaks or Croats, but by Serbs and the citizens of Republika Srpska. “When you say we don’t have a majority, you must know that we do have the majority given to us by the Serb people, and based on that, we also have a majority within the Serb caucus,” Kovačević stressed. Responding to delegate Nenad Vuković (PDP), Kovačević emphasized that the three SNSD delegates in the House of People represent the Serb people, as a reflection of their electoral will. “We were elected by the Serb people, we were elected by the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, unlike some others,” Kovačević stated. He reminded that the SNSD, based on the electoral will of the Serb people and citizens of Republika Srpska, represents 65 percent of those who gave their support in the elections, while the PDP received only five percent. “That ratio alone should warrant some level of respect—if you respect your own work,” Kovačević concluded.
