PALE - A SYMBOL OF REPUBLIKA SRPSKA’S BIRTH

PALE, MAY 29 /SRNA/ - Pale is a symbol of the birth of Republika Srpska, stated National Assembly deputy Aco Stanišić in response to Džemal Smajić, a deputy in the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly, whom he accused of using his position to stir up wartime tensions instead of proposing solutions for a better life for all in BiH.
“For Smajić, our freedom is the evil - our right to speak our own language and write in our own alphabet. That is why Pale, to him, is a symbol of evil, as it symbolizes the birth of Republika Srpska,” Stanišić told SRNA after Džemal Smajić stated that “Pale is a symbol of aggression against BiH” and that the alleged genocide project was led from there. Stanišić argued that in 1992, Pale said “no” to sinister plans in which Serbs would become second-class citizens in their own country and believes that this is what bothers Smajić. “We, the people of Pale, are proud of everything our municipality represents, of all the symbols of the struggle we cherish, of every one of our soldiers, of everything we were and everything we are. The best testament to this is the fact that during all the years of war, not a single war crime occurred in Pale, even though in our neighboring areas Smajić’s compatriots committed horrific crimes and destroyed Serbs’ homes,” Stanišić emphasized. It is unfortunate, Stanišić believes, that Smajić chose this way to gain broader recognition instead of fighting for the survival of BiH as a member of the Party for BiH. However, it seems that in their narrative, BiH does not include Republika Srpska. Stanišić concluded that Smajić once again revealed what is well known both in Pale and across Republika Srpska - that there are no friends or partners in official Sarajevo, and that many hide their hatred for everything with Serb prefix through their silence.
