"YOUNG BOSNIA" AND THE SARAJEVO ASSASSINATION DISCUSSED IN PRIBOJ ON VIDOVDAN

LOPARE, JUNE 28 /SRNA/ - Serbs do not tolerate self-proclaimed dictators, and they understand freedom as independence and self-reliance; this was true at the time of "Young Bosnia," the Battle of Kosovo, and it remains true today, said historian Miloš Ković today at the "Princip Fest" in Priboj near Lopare.

Ković emphasized that Serbs want to be masters of their land, and that they accept only the authority they acknowledge and choose. He said he attended the "Princip Fest" out of great respect for Veljko Čubrilović, who, he believes, belonged more to the people’s defense than to "Young Bosnia," of which he was a member. Visitors of the "Princip Fest" had the opportunity today to hear a lecture about "Young Bosnia," and Ković said that, together with writer Muharem Bazdulj, he is attempting to reconstruct the core guiding ideas of the "Young Bosnia" movement. "Not only who those people were, but also what they believed in. What is especially important for us is what has remained of those ideas to this day. We spoke about the idea of sovereignty, which, in our opinion, is the key idea of Serbian political tradition, and that is the idea that Serbs do not tolerate guardianship," Ković emphasized. Radoslav Ostojić, one of the organizers of the "Princip Fest," said that this festival is one way to pay tribute to Majevica's participation in a great historical event, and to remind us of everything the Vidovdan heroes did for the Serbian people and freedom, both of Majevica and all Serbian lands. The festival concluded with the monodrama "I Must Speak Up" by Nobel laureate Ivo Andrić, who was also, in his youth, a member of "Young Bosnia."
