KOVAČEVIĆ: THE "VIJADUKT" DEBT ISSUE UNRESOLVED DUE TO POLITICIZATION

BANJA LUKA, JULY 3 /SRNA/ - Radovan Kovačević, a Serb member of the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliament, said that the Republika Srpska Ministry of Finance had proposed a solution for settling BiH’s debt to the company "Vijadukt," but that others wanted to politicize the issue, leaving it unresolved.
Kovačević emphasized that Republika Srpska had presented its position and that the proposal made by the Republika Srpska Minister of Finance could have solved the problem, had it been accepted by the Chairwoman of the Council of Ministers. "That proposal would have made it possible to resolve the issue and to find a way for BiH first to pay off what is indeed its debt, and then for certain obligations to be assumed within BiH, in line with the responsibilities of other institutions, so that everything could be balanced," Kovačević said at a press conference in Banjaluka. He emphasized, however, that some others wanted to politicize and exploit the issue as yet another topic for targeting Republika Srpska. "But none of that worked or produced any results, except that they held some meetings of informal organizations, such as the PIC, where representatives of the Republika Srpska opposition were present and went to see Christian Schmidt, who has no role whatsoever in BiH," Kovačević said. He noted that opposition representatives used that venue to throw mud at Republika Srpska and try to portray it as the darkest spot on the planet. "However, that is not true, and it is becoming more evident each day. The only question now is whether they have been speaking with certain people to bring individuals from truly the darkest places on Earth to BiH and Republika Srpska, where they would become a threat to them," Kovačević said.
