VIŠKOVIĆ: COURT CONFIRMED THAT NO ONE CAN BE TRIED BASED ON DECISIONS OF UNAPPOINTED FOREIGNER

BRATUNAC, JULY 5 /SRNA/ – Republika Srpska Prime Minister Radovan Višković has stated today that the Court of BiH has confirmed what Republika Srpska officials have been warning about for two years - that no official in the world can be tried based on the decisions of an unappointed foreigner.
"We have legislative institutions. Laws are passed by the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, and the Parliament of the Federation of BiH. Sanctions can be imposed and judgments handed down based on those laws," Višković told the press in Bratunac. Commenting on the Court of BiH’s decision to lift the detention measures against the president of Republika Srpska, Višković emphasized that every court, the Constitutional Court, the Court of BiH, the Supreme Court, or district or municipal courts, must act according to laws passed by competent institutions. "I thank the people from the Court and Prosecutor’s Office of BiH who found the strength to say that they cannot act based on the decisions of unappointed official like Christian Schmidt," Višković stressed. He reiterated that this was the only logical decision, which Republika Srpska had been pointing out for two years. "But sometimes it takes a lot of time for justice to be served. We had to wait two years, even though this could have been resolved on the very first day if the Prosecutor’s Office had refused to pursue a case that was not in accordance with BiH laws," Višković said. Speaking about the reactions of the "Troikas" from Sarajevo and Republika Srpska to this decision of the Court of BiH, Višković says this is exactly why they are called the "Troika," as if they were of any greater significance, they would have been called the "Seven" or the "Ten." The Court of BiH issued a ruling yesterday accepting the Prosecutor’s Office proposal to lift the detention order against Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik, thereby also canceling the arrest warrant that had been issued for him. The detention order was lifted after it was determined that the reasons for which it was previously imposed no longer exist. Earlier, the Court of BiH had imposed a one-month detention on Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik on suspicion of committing, as stated, the criminal offense of "attacking the constitutional order."
