MITROVIĆ: SARAJEVO IS BOTHERED BY EVERY INITIATIVE FROM SRPSKA

BANJA LUKA, JULY 8 /SRNA/ - The Republika Srpska Minister of Economy and Entrepreneurship Vojin Mitrović told SRNA that Sarajevo has no issue with zero tariffs on imports from certain European countries, but takes issue when it comes to the United States, which has a different policy toward the Western Balkans, especially Republika Srpska.
"Unfortunately, it is what it is, but that's BiH," Mitrović said. Regarding the decision by U.S. President Donald Trump to impose 30 percent tariffs on imports from BiH, Mitrović stated that this is a consequence of some in Sarajevo rejecting Republika Srpska's initiative to introduce zero tariffs on American products. According to him, everything proposed by Republika Srpska and its President Milorad Dodik faces condemnation and opposition in Sarajevo, including the initiative for zero tariffs on American goods. "The introduction of zero tariffs on imports from the US is a good proposal that would open opportunities for cooperation between Republika Srpska, the Federation of BiH, and the United States. We may be small, but we are not insignificant. We want to export and showcase our products in America as well. Why would this be a problem, and why would American technologies and products be considered competition in the BiH market?" Mitrović asked. The Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations in the Council of Ministers, Staša Košarac, earlier told SRNA that the "Troika" is directly responsible for the negative effects that entrepreneurs from Republika Srpska and the Federation of BiH will face as a result of 30 percent tariffs introduced by the United States. US President Donald Trump has introduced 30 percent tariffs on all goods entering the United States from BiH, effective August 1.
