BRNABIĆ: PLANS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF MEMORIAL CENTERS IN DONJA GRADINA AND JAJINCI SHOULD BE FINALIZED

BELGRADE, JULY 9 /SRNA/ - The Speaker of the Serbian National Assembly Ana Brnabić stated today in Jerusalem that Serbia faces a major undertaking in building memorial centers in Donja Gradina and Jajinci.

BELGRADE, JULY 9 /SRNA/ - The Speaker of the Serbian National Assembly Ana Brnabić stated today in Jerusalem that Serbia faces a major undertaking in building memorial centers in Donja Gradina and Jajinci.

Following her visit to the Yad Vashem Memorial Center in Jerusalem, Brnabić emphasized that she, together with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, is now even more determined to finalize the plans for the construction of these memorial centers as soon as possible. "This has inspired me to gather, as early as next week, a team of people from Republika Srpska, the Government of Serbia, our historians, and representatives of museums dedicated to the study of the genocide against the Serbian people, in order to develop a concept that ensures these memorial centers are not merely monuments," Brnabić told reporters in Jerusalem. She added that the memorial centers in Donja Gradina and Jajinci would include educational and research components, to ensure that the genocide committed against the Serbian people, as well as against Jews and Roma during the Second World War in the territory of the Independent State of Croatia, is never forgotten. Regarding the European Commission's reaction to Marko Perković Tompson's concert in Zagreb, Brnabić stated that their reaction was not condemnation but rather an embarrassment for the European Commission. She emphasized that Serbia is demanding a clear condemnation and a statement regarding what she called the largest neo-fascist event in Europe, which was attended by nearly half a million people chanting the Ustaše salute, "Za dom spremni" /"For the Homeland, Ready"/. Brnabić emphasized that this event occurred just 100 kilometers from Jasenovac, the place of greatest suffering for Serbs.
