SRPSKA GOVERNMENT AVOIDS CONFLICT SCENARIO

BANJA LUKA, JULY 15 /SRNA/ – The Troika from the Federation of BiH and a corresponding group from Republika Srpska, who accused the Srpska leadership of provoking conflict, had certain international support - but it all fell apart, said Nenad Stevandić, the Republika Srpska National Assembly speaker.

Stevandić emphasizes he is proud of the responsible conduct of the Republika Srpska government, which managed to avoid a scenario that foresaw violence. He stated that the planned scenario was based on the rogue judicial institutions with the political ties with the opposition in Srpska being evident. "Republika Srpska demonstrated a constructive stance, as did its leaders. The plan to have them arrested, shackled, and replaced with a suitable opposition has failed," Stevandić said at a press conference in Banja Luka. He recalled that FBiH Interior Minister Ramo Isak had spoken about prepared units ready to enter Republika Srpska, while Christian Schmidt and many embassies remained silent on the matter. "It was clear there was an attempt to provoke conflicts, for which President Milorad Dodik, Prime Minister Radovan Višković and I would have been blamed," Stevandić stated. He noted that with the departure of U.S. Ambassador Michael Murphy, the momentum behind pushing such a scenario has faded. "It is clear this was an attack by the Trojka, and that they had instrumentalised prosecutors. Now those same individuals are being investigated for the alleged financing of Elmedin Konaković's party through a drug cartel," said Stevandić. He stressed that throughout it all, Republika Srpska remained the only stable force, the one that continues to gain greater public support each day. The press conference by Stevandić is available live on SRNA YouTube channel.
