ANĐELKOVIĆ: SRPSKA SHOULD STAND UNITED ON ITS PATH

BELGRADE, AUGUST 28 /SRNA/ - Political analyst Dragomir Anđelković stated that Republika Srpska should not agree to playing by Sarajevo's rules, whether regarding court decisions or today's decision of the Central Election Commission /CEC/ of BiH to call early presidential elections in Srpska, but should instead stand united on its path of defending constitutionality and statehood.

"That means not accepting unconstitutional decisions of any legal or illegal body in BiH. For Republika Srpska to oppose this, it must insist on national unity and the common national interest," Anđelković told SRNA. Anđelković emphasizes that unity is necessary because the constitutional autonomy of Republika Srpska is directly threatened. "When it comes to defending Republika Srpska, there really needs to be a common denominator now, because if things like this go through… It’s not only that everyone is personally at risk, but the constitutional autonomy of Republika Srpska is directly threatened," he warned. Anđelković believes that Republika Srpska should declare these elections illegal and prevent them from taking place. He emphasized that it is crucial for Republika Srpska's institutions to act, after which citizens should be called upon to support this and engage in a joint struggle for Republika Srpska through legitimate means. "Republika Srpska as a state should certainly prevent this and seek maximum support from everyone in the world, from Serbia and beyond," Anđelković said. He added that no one now has the right to take a Solomon-like stance or say: "In principle we support it, but…" "There is no `but`; now one must firmly stand behind the position of constitutionality, which means rejecting everything that undermines the constitution and the Dayton Peace Agreement," Anđelković emphasized. He stressed that it is necessary to say "no" to the early elections for the President of Republika Srpska and to participate in the referendum scheduled in Srpska for October 25, with the maximum engagement of all political actors. Republika Srpska, according to the conclusions of the National Assembly of August 22, rejected the possibility of holding early elections for the president of Republika Srpska and requested that all authorities of Srpska and local self-government units refrain from undertaking any actions related to their implementation. At that time, the Republika Srpska National Assembly adopted a decision to call a referendum regarding the ruling of the unconstitutional Court of BiH against the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, and the decision of the Central Election Commission of BiH on the termination of his mandate, setting the referendum date for October 25. The referendum question reads: "Do you accept the decisions of the unelected foreigner, Christian Schmidt, and the ruling of the unconstitutional Court of BiH issued against the President of Republika Srpska, as well as the decision of the CEC to terminate the mandate of the President of Srpska, Milorad Dodik?"
