INTERNATIONALS UNDERMINING THE DAYTON PEACE AGREEMENT

BELGRADE, NOVEMBER 9 /SRNA/ – The Dayton Peace Agreement, three decades after its signing, still holds great value, but the problem is that internationals do not respect it and are, through their actions, undermining it, former diplomat Branko Branković told SRNA.

BELGRADE, NOVEMBER 9 /SRNA/ – The Dayton Peace Agreement, three decades after its signing, still holds great value, but the problem is that internationals do not respect it and are, through their actions, undermining it, former diplomat Branko Branković told SRNA.

Branković stated that the international community must fully respect what it signed together with Serbia and Croatia as guarantors, with the three constituent peoples in BiH. “The problem does not lie with Serbia and Croatia as guarantors; they are fighting for and respecting the Dayton Peace Agreement. The problem lies with the international community, which supports this current so-called /Christian/ Schmidt, who came without the approval of the UN Security Council and enjoys support only from the Muslim side,” Branković said. Branković emphasized that if the letter of the Dayton Peace Agreement were respected, no people or entity within BiH would be disadvantaged in any way. Branković stressed that Schmidt must be shown his limits and, as he put it, drive him out. “He does not and cannot have any authority,” Branković stated. He stressed that from the very beginning, those who failed to create a Muslim BiH under the leadership of Alija Izetbegović have been trying to revise the Dayton Peace Agreement. “Those who thought they could act against the Dayton should quiet down, because they will gain nothing that way. At this moment, we have no better, stronger, or clearer document that explicitly states there are two entities and three peoples, meaning equal respect for each of the three,” Branković said.
