OSTOJIĆ: HORRIFIC CRIME AGAINST SERBS IN KRAVICA REMAINS UNPUNISHED
BRATUNAC, JANUARY 5 /SRNA/ – The President of the Veterans’ Organization of Republika Srpska /BORS/ Radan Ostojić said that a monstrous crime against Serbs was committed in Kravica on Orthodox Christmas in 1993, for which no one has been held accountable, stressing that Serbs have responsibility to point out the absurdity of BiH and its judicial system.
He stressed that today tribute was paid and prayers were offered for the souls of those killed on Christmas Day in 1993, as well as for all Serb victims of the last and previous wars. “The Serb people in Podrinje suffered both in the Second World War and in the Defensive-Patriotic War. The same people suffered twice—once directly at the hands of the executioners who committed the crimes, and the second time at the hands of the system of the state they live in,” Ostojić told reporters in Kravica, where the 33rd anniversary of the crime against Serbs in this village has been marked today. He pointed to the anomaly that there has been no punishment for crimes committed against Serbs, noting that a similar situation existed after the Second World War, when it was forbidden to speak about crimes against Serbs in the name of alleged brotherhood and unity. “After the last civil war in BiH, something similar has been happening, in the sense that there is no justice only for Serb victims. Judicial institutions at the BiH level have done nothing to date regarding this crime,” Ostojić said. According to him, BORS will never abandon the fight for justice. “As long as we exist, we are obliged to come to the sites of Serb suffering, light candles, and point out the absurdity of the state we live in and its judicial system,” Ostojić said. He pointed out that Republika Srpska Day is approaching and will be marked with dignity, despite attempts to ban its observance and to impose a version of history written by others and suited to others. “That will never be allowed as long as Serbs live in these areas,” Ostojić said. Thirty-two years since the major suffering of Serbs in this area have been marked in Bratunac village of Kravica today. A memorial service has been held for 163 Serbs from this village and neighboring hamlets who were killed in the Defensive-Patriotic War, 49 of whom were murdered by Muslim forces from Srebrenica on January 7, 1993.
