SRPSKA BORN IN PEACE, SAFE FOR ITS CITIZENS
BANJA LUKA, JANUARY 8 /SRNA/ – Republika Srpska Interior Minister Željko Budimir emphasizes that Republika Srpska was created in peace, later defended in war, so in order to ensure its continued existence, it is essential to remember the day it was born, which is why celebrating the Republika Srpska Day on January 9 is important.
Budimir highlighted that the Republika Srpska Ministry of Interior /MoI/ and the Srpska Government provide security for every citizen, regardless of their national, religious, or any other affiliation. "What we are doing today is celebrating our security, our hearth, our only homeland, in which we are free," Budimir told the press in Banja Luka after attending the dress rehearsal of the ceremonial parade of MoI personnel for the Republika Srpska Day, which will be held tomorrow. He stated that all echelons and units participating in the parade are ready for the great holiday of Republika Srpska. "This involves 14 echelons, 11 of which are motorized, which will display the capabilities of the Republika Srpska MoI. The police officers are well-trained, and tomorrow it will look exactly as it should – a source of pride for Republika Srpska!" Budimir said. January 9 is celebrated as the Republika Srpska Day as it was established on that date in 1992 under its original name, the Republic of the Serb People in BiH. Srpska was founded by Serb deputies in the then Assembly of BiH after they were outvoted on key issues concerning the survival of Yugoslavia, while members of the other two peoples moved toward secession against the will of the Serbs, who had the status of a constituent people. The name Republic of the Serb People in BiH was used until February 28, 1992, when the first Constitution was proclaimed, at which point it was replaced by the name Srpska Republika of BiH, which was used until August 12, 1992, when the name Srpska Republika was introduced. In September 1992, this was replaced by the current name – Republika Srpska.
