MARČETA: REPUBLIKA SRPSKA IS PERMANENT PILLAR FOR SERBS IN FBiH
DRVAR, JANUARY 8 /SRNA/ – Serbs living in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina /FBiH/ perceive January 9 as their own holiday, and Republika Srpska is their only and permanent pillar, president of the Association of Expelled Citizens of Drvar "Sustainable Return" Mile Marčeta told SRNA.
Marčeta stressed that Republic Day – January 9 – represents a symbol of freedom, survival and the right of the Serb people to decide on their own future, and that it is a date recalling the time of the creation of Republika Srpska and the unity of the people in the most difficult moments. He said that Serbs from the FBiH remain strongly connected to Republika Srpska, which they see as a guarantor of their security, identity and future, and that they expect it to continue strengthening economic and social conditions for return, investment and employment. According to him, in recent days, due to natural disasters and heavy snowfall, the gravel road on the Drvar–Istočni Drvar route has been difficult to pass, but such conditions have not prevented the people of this area from supporting the marking of Republic Day of Republika Srpska. "Despite heavy snowfall, impassable roads and numerous problems faced by Drvar and Istočni Drvar, the people of this area are providing full support for the celebration of Republic Day of Republika Srpska. Our people stand with Republika Srpska and respect the time of its creation," Marčeta said. He added that Serbs from the FBiH will continue to mark Republic Day in the future, preserving the memory of its historical foundation and its significance for the Serb people. Republika Srpska is celebrating 34 years of its existence. Republika Srpska was established on January 9, 1992, in Sarajevo as the Republic of the Serb People in BiH, by a decision of the then Assembly of the Serb People in BiH. Republika Srpska adopted its first Constitution on February 28, 1992, under the name Constitution of the Serb Republic of BiH.
