KOJIĆ: ABOLITION OF ENTITIES WOULD MEAN AN INDEPENDENT REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

SARAJEVO, JANUARY 10 /SRNA/ – Member of the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly, Milorad Kojić, says that abolishing the entities would mean that BiH would be left with 51 percent of the territory, while Republika Srpska would have its 49 percent in full independence and sovereignty.

Responding to a statement by the Minister of Defence in the Council of Ministers, Zukan Helez, "that the time has come to begin a serious discussion on abolishing the entities in BiH," Kojić has told SRNA that such messages primarily serve Helez’s political strengthening among the Bosniak electorate and that such statements are unrealistic and unnecessary. He says this is an attempt to create ideals of some kind of unitary BiH, which, in his assessment, is a shot in the dark. "An entity can be abolished, but then that BiH would remain with 51 percent of the territory, and Republika Srpska would have its 49 percent in full independence and sovereignty. If that is his motive, we absolutely have nothing against it," Kojić said. He pointed out that the aspirations of part of Bosniak politics for BiH to be organised according to "one man – one vote" principle are well known, which would lead to Bosniak dominance, turning Serbs and Croats into national minorities without real decision-making power, especially when it comes to protecting vital national interests. Kojić emphasized that such statements do not contribute to stability or internal dialogue in BiH.
