USTASHA SALUTE DISPLAYED AT THE ENTRANCE TO A VILLAGE WITH A SERB POPULATION

METKOVIĆ, FEBRUARY 2 /SRNA/ - The Ustasha salute "Za dom spremni!" /"For the homeland, ready!"/, along with graffiti reading "Ustasha," "1941," and a fascist swastika, were written at the entrance to the predominantly Serb village of Glušci near Metković in Croatia, residents confirmed to SRNA.

"Last night, on the road to the village, we saw the graffiti. We are deeply disturbed. We did not report it to the police because the same thing happened in September last year, and we were never informed that the perpetrators had been identified or punished. For us, it seems the war never ended," one outraged resident said. Last year, seven days before a commemoration for 90 villagers who were taken and killed by the Ustasha in the Jasenovac camp on September 25, 1944, hate speech messages appeared in the village of Glušci. At that time, graffiti reading "Kill a Serb" and "ZDS," an abbreviation of the Ustshša salute "Za dom spremni!", were written on the road, including on a signpost pointing toward Glušci.
