ĐOKIĆ: FBiH AUTHORITIES TO SANCTION ORGANIZERS OF GATHERING NEAR BIHAĆ

BANJA LUKA, 7 FEBRUARY /SRNA/ – The President of the SP Petar Đokić called on the courts and competent institutions in the Federation of BiH to sanction the organizers and participants of the gathering at Hasin Vrh near Bihać, during which war chants were heard and gunshots fired just a few kilometers from Serb returnee villages.

Đokić emphasized that it was unacceptable that a gesture such as Miodrag Malić raising three fingers was treated as a threat, while at the same time gatherings marked by wartime flags, chants, and gunfire were tolerated, which should be treated as an even more serious form of endangering peace and security. He added that Malić’s sentence of three years in prison was not only an injustice toward an individual but also a direct blow to the identity of the Serbian people. According to him, the court must not display hypocrisy, because punishing symbols that belong to the identity of one people while simultaneously tolerating the open glorification of wartime ideology undermines citizens’ trust and points to the selective application of justice. Đokić said that only with equal standards and consistent action can a society be built in which all citizens feel safe and in which the identity of every people is respected. "BiH must not be a place where some are punished for symbols while others are allowed to freely display war chants. Justice must be equal for all," Đokić added.
