REPUBLIKA SRPSKA DEFENDED BY ITS ARMY’S HEROISM

BANJA LUKA, FEBRUARY 13 /SRNA/ – Members of the Republika Srpska Army defended Srpska through their courage and heroism, SNSD leader Milorad Dodik said in a congratulatory message to the Republika Srpska veterans on the occasion of the Day of Republika Srpska War Veterans and the anniversary of the First Serbian Uprising.

Dodik emphasized that the sacrifice and determination of the members of the Republika Srpska Army oblige everyone to preserve peace, unity, and the values for which they fought. "On this day, we proudly remember the courage and determination of the Serb insurgents who in 1804 raised their voices and arms for freedom, as well as all the soldiers who throughout history contributed to the defence of the homeland," Dodik stressed. He stated that their perseverance and love of freedom serve as a lasting reminder and inspiration to safeguard peace, dignity, and the unity of the Serb people. He noted that this day should remind everyone that freedom is the greatest value. "We are obliged to protect it with wisdom, responsibility, and mutual respect. Eternal glory to all Serb heroes," Dodik posted on X. The Republika Srpska Army was formed on May 12, 1992. During the Defensive-Patriotic War, 23,752 soldiers were killed. The First Serbian Uprising against Ottoman rule was launched on February 15, 1804, in Orašac and represents one of the most significant events in the history of Serbs.
