KALUŽA: SRPSKA INDEPENDENTLY BUILDING ITS INTERNATIONAL POSITION
BANJA LUKA, MARCH 4 /SRNA/ – Republika Srpska is independently building its international position based on mutual respect among participants in all discussions, which is supported by Serb BiH Presidency member Željka Cvijanović's current visit to the United States and the arrival of retired US General Michael Flynn in Banja Luka, international relations expert Lučiano Kaluža told SRNA.
"This, as well as previous visits by Republika Srpska delegations of to the United States, resulted in agreements on strategic geopolitical and energy projects. This proved that Republika Srpska is for the first time acting proactively in terms of following global developments and understanding geopolitical relations," Kaluža stated. He emphasized that Republika Srpska places its own interests first and does nothing to the detriment of other peoples. "Republika Srpska is not a passive observer, but an active participant in shaping relations in the form in which it is able to do so. The visit of the Serb BiH Presidency member Željka Cvijanović to the United States should be viewed in that context, as well as General Flynn’s visit to Republika Srpska," Kaluža pointed out. Speaking about Flynn, he said that he is one of the most influential figures in the US military and intelligence forces, recalling that he also served as National Security Advisor to the U.S. President. "Flynn came to Banja Luka to send a message to Republika Srpska, but also to the region. However, first and foremost to Republika Srpska, through a presentation on how a nation can establish independence," Kaluža said. He referred to Flynn's remarks in which the American general addressed how to defend one's status within a specific environment. "He very clearly stated and vividly demonstrated the direction Republika Srpska should take in the coming period. He also sent a message to BiH that it cannot function in this way while certain political representatives from the FBiH are undermining the Dayton Peace Agreement," Kaluža emphasized. He added that Republika Srpska fought strongly to preserve the Dayton Peace Agreement, while the FBiH had different intents. "The United States sends messages through formal and informal channels. An intense period awaits us. Republika Srpska is ready to face it," Kaluža concluded.
