MINIĆ: GAS PIPELINE CONSTRUCTION PART OF ENERGY DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY
BANJA LUKA, APRIL 17 /SRNA/ – Republika Srpska Prime Minister Savo Minić says that by building the gas pipeline, Republika Srpska is demonstrating its determination to carry out major investments in challenging times, emphasizing that this project is part of the energy development strategy of Republika Srpska.
Minić noted that the pipeline also includes the possibility of electricity generation. He says he is pleased with the transparency of the project and that construction of the gas pipeline will begin in June. “I am also pleased that we have local resources capable of implementing this,” Minić said at a press conference following the signing of the agreement. He stressed that, in these difficult times, Republika Srpska is undertaking projects that are important not only for future generations but are also strategic. “They are part of the energy development strategy of Republika Srpska. We had a vision, and we will complete this project,” Minić said, noting that Republika Srpska is also working on numerous other infrastructure projects. Republika Srpska Minister of Energy and Mining Petar Đokić pointed out that today marks the beginning of another extremely important project through which Republika Srpska confirms its firm determination to continue on the path of development. “This is the largest project that Republika Srpska has launched and will build so far,” Đokić said. He highlighted the significant role of Milorad Dodik in the implementation of this project. “Gas opens up rapid development of industrial potential,” Đokić said, adding that gaspipelining will impact economic development. The contract - framework agreement for the design and construction of the main Šepak–Novi Grad gas pipeline, worth BAM 1 billion and 29 million was signed today in Banja Luka. The document was signed by Nedeljko Elek, CEO of Sarajevo-gas Company from Istočno Sarajevo, and Miloš Petrović of Konvar from Belgrade, in the presence of Prime Minister Savo Minić and Republika Srpska Minister of Energy and Mining Petar Đokić. The Konvar is the lead company of the consortium that will carry out the works on this project, which also includes Gastek Inđija, Radis Istočno Sarajevo, the Welding Institute Belgrade, and Jokić Invest Zvornik, the Ministry of Energy and Mining of Republika Srpska announced earlier.
