POLICE OFFICER DRAGAN ĐURIĆ WAS KILLED 11 YEARS AGO, BiH PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE STILL SILENT
ZVORNIK, APRIL 27 /SRNA/ – Tribute has been paid today in Zvornik to police officer Dragan Đurić, who was killed in a terrorist attack on the Zvornik Police Station carried out 11 years ago by Wahhabi Nerdin Ibrić, with a reminder that no one has yet been held accountable for this heinous terrorist act.
Memorial service was held and candles were laid at the site of Đurić's death outside the Zvornik Police Administration building, in remembrance of the tragic death of officer Đurić. Wreaths were laid by Đurić's family, the Head of the Police Administration of the Republika Srpska Interior Ministry Miloš Brkić, the commander of the Gendarmerie of the Republika Srpska Ministry of Interior Slaviša Trifković, the Head of the Zvornik Police Administration Aleksandar Vasiljević, the Mayor of Zvornik Bojan Ivanović, as well as representatives of the Republika Srpska Union of Employees in the Ministry of Interior and the Zvornik Police Administration. Brkić told the press that such terrorist act calls for increased vigilance by the police and additional protection of facilities where officers are stationed while carrying out their duties. "The Ministry of Interior of Republika Srpska is taking measures, primarily through the Counter-Terrorism Directorate, to prevent such events," Brkić said, emphasizing that even after 11 years, no one has been sanctioned for this incident - neither those who planned nor those who organised this heinous and insidious terrorist act. Stressing that police work is difficult and responsible, as officers are exposed to various dangers on a daily basis, Brkić said that an attack on the police represents an attack on the state and should be treated accordingly. The head of the Republika Srpska Union of Employees in the Ministry of Interior Nebojša Prodanović said that this terrorist act, in which police officer Dragan Đurić tragically lost his life in the line of duty, must never be forgotten. Noting that terrorism is a form of warfare that is insidious and difficult to detect, he expressed hope that this case, even after 11 years, will be solved and that those who ordered and organised it will be punished. Anđelko, the brother of the murdered officer, said that April 27 is a day of remembrance, sorrow, and hope for the Đurić family that the truth about who was behind this terrorist act will be revealed and that justice will be served. "Unfortunately, even after 11 years, nothing has changed. The Prosecutor's Office remains silent when it comes to a Serb police officer," Anđelko said, adding that it would be easier for the family if the truth about those who ordered and organised this terrorist act were known. Police officer Dragan Đurić was killed on April 27, 2015, in a terrorist attack on the Zvornik Police Station by an Islamist. The attacker was identified as Nerdin Ibrić /aged 24/, an Islamist extremist from the village of Sapna near Zvornik. Ibrić entered the Zvornik Police Station at around 7:00 p.m., during a shift change when the largest number of officers were present. In the exchange of fire, the terrorist was killed. In the attack, police officers Željko Gajić and Stevo Milovanović were injured.
