BANJA LUKA, APRIL 29 /SRNA/ – During a visit to the Brest Regional Clinical Hospital in Belarus, a Republika Srpska delegation was informed on the latest methods in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases, as well as with the performance of minimally invasive and complex procedures, thus signed a number of agreements.

"A special focus was placed on the work of the transplant centre, where experiences were exchanged regarding postoperative recovery and the specific aspects of care for patients on dialysis," the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare of Republika Srpska announced. Comprehensive presentation was organised for the delegation of Republika Srpska, consisting of Minister of Health and Social Welfare Alen Šeranić and Acting Director of the Institute for Dialysis and Transplantation of Republika Srpska Goran Topić, along with their associates, covering the hospital's rich history, its internal organisation, and the wide range of medical services it provides. Delegation members had the opportunity to witness firsthand the high standards of work during a detailed tour of key medical facilities, including a modern laboratory and diagnostic departments, which form the basis for fast and precise treatment, the statement said. The Brest Regional Clinical Hospital has 940 beds and provides specialized medical care in 29 disciplines. More than 21,000 operations are performed annually, and the centre is recognised as a regional leader in high-tech medicine and transplantation. During the visit, the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare of Republika Srpska sogned an agreement with the Brest Regional Executive Committee, aimed at establishing institutional cooperation and improving the efficiency and quality of patient treatment. An Agreement on Cooperation in the field of transplant medicine was also signed between the Institute for Dialysis and Transplantation of Republika Srpska and the Brest Regional Clinical Hospital. Additionally, agreements were signed between the Republika Srpska University Clinical Centre and the Brest Regional Clinical Hospital, as well as between the Health Insurance Fund of Republika Srpska and this healthcare institution. "This return visit to Brest was agreed upon after a delegation from the Brest Regional Clinical Hospital visited Republika Srpska in December last year," the statement added. During the visit, the Ministry reviewed the results of previous cooperation with Belarus in healthcare, as well as possibilities for further improvement, with special emphasis on developing a cadaveric transplantation system, strengthening institutional capacities, and exchanging professional knowledge and experience. The Ministry also reminded that patients from Republika Srpska, upon recommendation of healthcare institutions, are already undergoing kidney transplants in Minsk, based on a previously signed Memorandum of Cooperation.
