COLDEST MAY DAY MORNING IN SOKOLAC SINCE 1961
BANJA LUKA, MAY 1 /SRNA/ – This morning, May 1, Sokolac was the coldest municipality in Republika Srpska, with a temperature of minus six degrees Celsius, the Republic Hydro-meteorological Institute announced.
This was also the coldest May Day morning since measurements began in 1961, the Institute stated. In Kotor Varoš, a temperature of minus 4.9 degrees Celsius was recorded, while in the south and partly in the east it was slightly warmer, with temperatures just above zero. In Banja Luka, this was the coldest May Day morning in the past 56 years, since 1970, when the minimum temperature was minus 1.4 degrees Celsius. The Hydro-meteorological Institute noted that at most meteorological stations, this was the coldest May Day morning in the past 20 to 30 years, and in some places even longer. In Trebinje, it was slightly colder in 2009, and in Gacko in 2010.
