IT'S NO MYSTERY WHY SCHMIDT IS LEAVING, NATION-BUILDING MUST BE STOPPED

BANJA LUKA, MAY 10 /SRNA/ - The Acting Director of the Office for International Cooperation, Ana Trišić Babić, said that it is no mystery why Christian Schmidt is leaving - he abused his position, repeatedly overrode democratic institutions, and attempted to replace the Dayton vision of BiH with a unitary model.

Trišić Babić reminded that Schmidt governed BiH for five years without ever being elected or even confirmed by the UN Security Council. "It is no mystery why Christian Schmidt is leaving - he abused his position, repeatedly overrode democratic institutions, and attempted to replace the Dayton vision of a state composed of two entities with a multi-ethnic unitary state," Ana Trišić Babić wrote on X. She stated that after 30 years, nation-building in BiH must finally be stopped. Trišić Babić emphasized that Schmidt’s departure highlights that BiH is the only country in Europe where absolute legislative and executive power was assumed by an unelected foreign official. "How can Europe justify foreign control over BiH, something it would not accept anywhere else?" she asked. Christian Schmidt confirmed to a German daily newspaper that he intends to resign and withdraw from BiH. “After nearly five years, Schmidt personally decided to end his service in implementing the peace process in BiH,” it was stated in a press release from the OHR /Office of the High Representative/ sent to the German daily.
