NEVESINJE, MAY 21 /SRNA/ - Nevesinje today celebrates Spasovdan, the patron saint's day of the municipality and the Cathedral Church, and on this occasion a festive procession passed through the city streets, while Metropolitan of Zahumlje-Herzegovina and the Littoral Dimitrije told the faithful that the Lord has given man everything for use, but not for misuse.

In his sermon to numerous believers, Metropolitan Dimitrije emphasized that life is joy and creation. "God creates something new every day, and we Christians are creators together with our Lord. The Christian life is the highest thing you can achieve with the Lord", Metropolitan Dimitrije said. He stressed that there is no greater dignity than the one Christ gave when He appeared in this world. "For us Christians, everything has been paid for. Now only service remains, but not so that someone may praise us, but to serve the Lord and everyone", the Metropolitan said. Igumen Vasilije of the Zavala Monastery said in his sermon that Spasovdan received its name because God saved both the body and the soul of man. "The Lord ascended to heaven in order to send the Holy Spirit, to come to us as help, strength, and power so that we may be able to fight our enemies", Igumen Vasilije said. Municipal Mayor Milenko Avdalović congratulated citizens on the patron saint’s day of the church and municipality and thanked compatriots from across Republika Srpska who came to Nevesinje today.
