DECLARATION PROTECTS THE DAYTON FROM WHAT OCCURRED DURING THE CHRISTIAN SCHMIDT AFFAIR

SARAJEVO, MAY 27 /SRNA/ – The Declaration on closing the OHR, adopted by the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, stemmed from Republika Srpska's need to inform the other parties - the guarantor countries and the UN Security Council, that the Dayton Peace Agreement should be protected from what occurred during the international Christian Schmidt affair, legal expert Ognjen Tadić believes.

"Republika Srpska is a party to that peace agreement and its annexes. Annex 10 of the Agreement defines the office of the High Representative," Tadić reminded in his SRNA statement. He expressed confidence that the UN Security Council, if it values its own dignity, reputation, and authority, will not allow such a situation to repeat, noting that it has strong support from Republika Srpska in this regard. Yesterday, the Republika Srpska National Assembly deputies adopted the Declaration on closing the OHR, which calls for the termination of the position of the High Representative in BiH and the closure of the OHR. The adopted document emphasizes that the National Assembly, as the highest authority of Republika Srpska - a signatory party to Annex 10 of the Dayton Peace Agreement, demands that the UN Security Council urgently adopt a resolution terminating the position of the High Representative in BiH and closing the OHR.
