TRIBUTE PAID TO FALLEN RSA SOLDIERS
PRNJAVOR, MAY 27 /SRNA/ – A memorial service was held in Prnjavor, in the presence of Serb BiH Presidency member Željka Cvijanović, to pay tribute to the fallen soldiers of the Republika Srpska Army /RSA/ as part of the marking of the Day of the Municipal Organisation of Families of Captured, Killed Soldiers and Missing Civilians.
Memorial service at the Monument to the Heroes of the City was attended, among others, by Minister for European Integration and International Cooperation of Republika Srpska Zlatan Klokić, Head of the Republika Srpska Organisation of Families of Captured, Killed Soldiers and Missing Civilians Isidora Graorac, Mayor of Prnjavor Darko Tomaš, and Speaker of the City Assembly Dražen Mikić. After the service, Cvijanović laid a wreath at the Monument to the Heroes of the City, and tributes were also paid by delegations of families of fallen soldiers, the Organisation of Families of Captured, Killed Soldiers and Missing Civilians, as well as other organisations originating from the Defensive-Patriotic War, city authorities, and numerous citizens. Today marks 31 years since the capture, killing, or disappearance of more than 50 soldiers of the Prnjavor brigade on the Ozren battlefield. Due to the severity of these events, this date was chosen as the Day of the Municipal Organisation of Families of Captured, Killed Soldiers and Missing Civilians, as an expression of respect and remembrance, as well as a lasting obligation toward those who gave the most for the defence of Republika Srpska. The monument was unveiled on June 28, 2014, and features engraved images of 71 Republika Srpska Army soldiers from the city area and the settlement of Ratkovac. Cvijanović previously held talks at the City Administration building with the leadership of Prnjavor and visited the Slavica cinema, which is expected to reopen soon after several decades. She was also awarded the Charter of Honorary Citizen with the Golden Coat of Arms of the city, granted on the occasion of City Day for her significant contributions and engagement in the interests of the city and the broader community.
