ĐOKIĆ: I EXPECT THE EU TO ENABLE UNHINDERED ACCESS OF RUSSIAN GAS TO THE EUROPEAN MARKET

ST. PETERSBURG, MAY 30 /SRNA/ - The Minister of Energy and Mining of Republika Srpska, Petar Đokić, expressed his belief that the EU will soon normalize relations and establish cooperation with Russia, ensuring unhindered access for Russian gas to the European market.

Đokić, following a meeting with the leadership of the Russian company "Gazprom" in St. Petersburg, assessed that the company will find ways to maintain its position as a partner in the European market and the Balkan region. "They have invested a lot of their capital and put a lot of effort into supporting the countries of the region to build gas systems and develop the ability to use gas," said Đokić. He expects that the countries that have collaborated with "Gazprom" will know how to appreciate this, and that there will be a normalization of relations with Russia in the coming period. "This war should not last endlessly, and when it ends, it is logical for the EU to establish cooperation with such a great power as Russia," Đokić said after the meeting, which was also attended by the General Director of "Sarajevo-gas" East Sarajevo, Nedeljko Elek. Đokić stated that the meeting was very productive and that it was confirmed that Republika Srpska remains a privileged partner of "Gazprom" for long-term gas supply. The strategy for the construction of the main gas pipeline and secondary gas pipelines in the municipalities and cities of Republika Srpska was presented at the meeting. "Gas is an energy source without which there can be no development of either industry or the other needs of the citizens. By 2035, we have projected a much greater use of gas," Đokić told media from Republika Srpska in St. Petersburg.
