PROMINENT RUSSIAN MAGAZINE PUBLISHES ARTICLE: REPUBLIKA SRPSKA - A BASTION OF SERBHOOD UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF MILORAD DODIK
MOSCOW, MAY 30 /SRNA/ - The Russian military and security magazine "National Defense" /Национальная оборона/ has published an article titled "Republika Srpska – a Bastion of Serbhood in the Balkans," which presents Republika Srpska as one of the most significant political and national pillars of the Serbian people in the Balkans under the leadership of SNSD leader Milorad Dodik, the most popular politician when it comes to protecting the interests of Srpska.
In the most influential Russian military-political publication, the eight-page article about Republika Srpska highlights the historical role of Serbs in BiH, the creation of Republika Srpska during the breakup of Yugoslavia, and the preservation of Serbian national identity to this day. This is accompanied by a photograph of Russian Federation President Vladimir Putin shaking hands with, as written, the leader of Serbs in BiH and president of the ruling Alliance of Independent Social Democrats /SNSD/ party, Milorad Dodik, who are connected by a sincere and respectful relationship. Specially highlighted is a public opinion study conducted by the "Faktor plus" agency, the results of which, according to the Russian magazine, showed that Dodik is the political figure trusted by the majority of citizens of Republika Srpska. "The party led by Milorad Dodik - the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats /SNSD/ - continues to enjoy the greatest trust among the citizens of Republika Srpska," writes the prominent Russian magazine, citing the results of the conducted study. It is emphasized that citizens positively evaluate the activities of the SNSD leadership, including contacts with international partners such as Russia, the US, Hungary, and Israel. The text also highlights the importance of the Orthodox faith and cultural heritage, the political autonomy guaranteed by the Dayton Peace Agreement, as well as Srpska's particularly close relations with Russia and Serbia, noting that these ties are based on a shared Orthodox tradition, Slavic heritage, and historical relations. "For the residents of Republika Srpska, preserving culture and identity has become the most important task," the text states. Republika Srpska is described positively, as a guarantor of security and the rights of Serbs in BiH, while political Sarajevo, NATO, and Western influences are mentioned critically as factors threatening the position of Srpska. The creation of Republika Srpska, the text points out, was conditioned by historical, political, and security circumstances in the early 1990s, when the Serbian people in BiH sought to ensure political equality, freedom, and the preservation of their identity, which they are still fighting for today. "The Serbian Orthodox Church also played a special role in preserving Serbian identity. Monasteries, old Orthodox shrines, folk traditions, and epic poetry represented the spiritual foundation of the Serbian people in BiH," the text reads, accompanied by photographs of His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Porfirije, the Monastery of St. Basil of Ostrog in Bijeljina, and the famous bridge on the Drina River in Višegrad.
