PODGORICA WAS WRONG, SERBIA ACTING CORRECTLY WITH RECIPROCAL MEASURES

ST. PETERSBURG, JUNE 4 /SRNA/ – President Milorad Dodik said that Podgorica made a mistake, stressing that the ban on entry for citizens of Serbia is unnecessary and not good, and added that he stands with Serbia.

ST. PETERSBURG, JUNE 4 /SRNA/ – President Milorad Dodik said that Podgorica made a mistake, stressing that the ban on entry for citizens of Serbia is unnecessary and not good, and added that he stands with Serbia.

Dodik said he understands Serbia’s decision to introduce reciprocal measures, stressing that “harassment” directed at Serbia from all sides in the region must stop. “Therefore, this also includes Podgorica, which did not hesitate to try to act in this way in these days toward citizens of Serbia. Whether someone likes them or not is a different matter,” Dodik told reporters from Republika Srpska. He said that if individuals had previously been on lists of persons banned from entering Montenegro, he could understand deportations. “But in circumstances where that does not exist, this is proof of a politically incorrect, hostile relationship that is continuously being promoted, including toward the President of Serbia himself, without any reason,” Dodik said. He added that Montenegrin citizens must understand that if authorities prevent someone from entering their country, they must expect that it is fully legitimate for reciprocal measures to be introduced. “I believe and hope that this will be resolved as soon as possible. I could never have imagined that such measures could be taken from the Montenegrin side, but Serbia must defend itself and I stand with Serbia,” Dodik stressed.
