PLENKOVIĆ: CHANGES TO ELECTION LAW AND CONSTITUTION ARE UP TO BiH INSTITUTIONS
SARAJEVO, JUNE 8 /SRNA/ - Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković stated today that changes to the Election Law and partial changes to the Constitution of BiH should be adopted by the institutions of BiH based on an agreement among political parties.
"We are not new to the topic of BiH, and even less so to the issue of changes to the Election Law or partial changes to the Constitution of BiH, or a series of ideas that should lead to what is colloquially called some at least virtual electoral district in which the Croatian people would elect their member of the BiH Presidency," Plenković told journalists in Sarajevo. Plenković pointed out that the authors of the Dayton Agreement intended for all three peoples in BiH - Serbs in the territory of Republika Srpska, and Croats and Bosniaks in the territory of the FBiH - to elect their own representatives. "And back then it was assumed, as it was a gentleman's agreement, that everyone elects their own. It was not expected that this would change," Plenković stated. Chairwoman of the Council of Ministers Borjana Krišto said that Croatia, as a signatory to the Dayton Agreement, has the obligation and responsibility to protect the position and status of the Croatian people in BiH. Krišto called on the representatives of the political institutions of all constituent peoples to take responsibility so that this issue can be resolved within the institutions of BiH.
