STEVANDIĆ: DODIK BEING DELIBERATELY PREVENTED FROM RUNNING IN ELECTIONS
BANJA LUKA, JUNE 14 /SRNA/ –Republika Srpska National Assembly Speaker Nenad Stevandić believes that the Constitutional Court of BiH is deliberately delaying its decision on the constitutionality of provisions to the Criminal Code of BiH imposed by Christian Schmidt in order to prevent SNSD leader Milorad Dodik from running in the next elections.
“What is still in force here is the principle first introduced by Beni Kállay that others determine who Serb representatives are and what their interests should be,” Stevandić told SRNA. Stevandić recalled that it is well known that the Constitutional and Legal Affairs Commission of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly, at the request of the Constitutional Court, submitted materials clearly stating that Schmidt cannot amend laws and cannot act as a legislator. “When something needs to be done against the Serbs, the Constitutional Court of BiH operates like a convenience store open at all hours. But when it is obvious that an injustice against the Serbs needs to be corrected, the Court is ready to take a summer recess,” Stevandić remarked. He concluded that “nothing lasts forever, and neither will the Constitutional Court of BiH”. The SNSD caucus in the National Assembly of Republika Srpska filed an appeal with the Constitutional Court of BiH in December of last year, seeking a review of the constitutionality of certain provisions of the Criminal Code of BiH imposed by Christian Schmidt. Under the provisions of the Criminal Code, failure to implement decisions of the high representative led to the conviction of Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik.
