TRUMP, DODIK, VUČIĆ ARE FIGHTING FOR THEIR PEOPLE

BELGRADE, JUNE 20 /SRNA/ – Former Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich stated that the leaders of Serbia, Republika Srpska, and the United States are fighting for their people and are constantly subjected to scrutiny of their decisions, but that there is never an ideal or perfect situation in politics.

Blagojevich pointed out that Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vučić is fighting for the people of Serbia, President Milorad Dodik for the people of Republika Srpska, and U.S. President Donald Trump for the American people. Blagojevich assessed for Newsmax Balkans that the Trump administration has changed its approach to the Western Balkans, particularly toward Serbia, which it views as a partner with whom the United States should develop closer cooperation. He added that this could mark the beginning of a historically new relationship between Serbia and the United States, emphasizing that both Vučić and Trump have an interest in such a rapprochement and that, upon returning to Washington, he would try to move Vučić's invitation for Trump to visit Belgrade “higher up the priority list”. “Trump knows he has been invited several times... Serbia could become an ally similar to what Hungary was under /former Prime Minister/ Viktor Orbán. There are significant economic opportunities for cooperation with the United States, including the potential for the expansion of American companies in the region,” Blagojevich said. He assessed that it is important for the United States to recognise the strategic importance of the Western Balkans and to carefully choose its partners in the region. Blagojevich said that within five to ten years he expects a strong alliance between Belgrade and Washington, although he noted that this could change depending on political developments in the United States if the Democratic Party were to return to power.
