VUJIČIĆ: BOSNIAK OFFICIALS' SILENCE OVER DESECRATION OF ORTHODOX RELIGIOUS SYMBOLS IS INCOMPREHENSIBLE

SARAJEVO, JUNE 25 /SRNA/ - SNSD member of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, Miroslav Vujičić, told SRNA that it is incomprehensible that, 30 years after the war, someone in BiH still feels the need to attack and destroy Orthodox religious symbols, as well as that Bosniak officials remain silent about it.

Vujičić said that the desecration of an Orthodox cemetery and the damage inflicted on a cross in the Travnik area are a great disgrace for those in whose name such acts are being carried out. "I am certain that something like this would not happen in Republika Srpska and that, if it did, it would be condemned by all officials of Republika Srpska. Yet when it comes to these unfortunate incidents, official Bosniak representatives remain silent," Vujičić said. He added that Bosniak officials are preoccupied with "pride parades" and concerts by singers from Serbia, while remaining silent about shots being fired at a cross in an Orthodox cemetery near Travnik. According to the Committee for the Protection of the Rights of Serbs in the Federation of BiH, dozens of rounds were fired at an Orthodox cross and in the direction of the former Orthodox cemetery in the Travnik settlement of Zaselje. The cross was erected by a Serb who was expelled from Travnik and now lives in Australia.
