STANIVUKOVIĆ: ATTACK ON REPUBLIKA SRPSKA FLAG MUST BE MET WITH RESPONSE
BANJA LUKA, JUNE 26 /SRNA/ – Safe Srpska Movement President Draško Stanivuković said the burning of the Republika Srpska flag must not become another case left without an adequate response.
He said institutions must demonstrate that the law applies equally to everyone and that every attack on national symbols will be sanctioned, according to a statement from the Safe Srpska Movement. "Such dangerous provocations directed against Republika Srpska and the Serb people are not and must never be acceptable," Stanivuković said. He added that he strongly condemned the burning of the Republika Srpska flag and called on the competent authorities to urgently investigate the incident and identify those responsible. "The burning of the Republika Srpska flag is not only a brazen attack on one of its symbols, but also on the dignity, identity, and feelings of the Serb people, who are an equal and constituent people in BiH," Stanivuković stated. A video circulating on social media appears to show a group of individuals removing the Republika Srpska flag from a flagpole and then setting it on fire while shouting "Allahu Akbar" and using profanity. According to media reports from the Federation of BiH, the flag had been flying on a flagpole erected along the Inter-Entity Boundary Line between Republika Srpska and the Federation of BiH.
