ŽUPLJANIN: EVEN GREAT COLONIAL POWERS FAILED TO SEIZE SERBIAN CULTURAL HERITAGE, BEĆIROVIĆ WILL FAIL TOO

BANJA LUKA, JULY 11 /SRNA/ - It is clear to everyone, including Denis Bećirović, that the veto lodged by the Serb member of the BiH Presidency, Željka Cvijanović, regarding the Commission to Preserve National Monuments is constitutional, legal and legitimate and, above all, a responsible act aimed at protecting the interests of Republika Srpska and the Serb people, Slobodan Župljanin, president of the Association of Patriots of Republika Srpska, told SRNA.

Župljanin stressed that the Republika Srpska National Assembly's support for the veto demonstrates broad unity in protecting the constitutional integrity of Republika Srpska and its key values. "That unity carries far greater strength than any threat by Bećirović to file an appeal with the unconstitutional Constitutional Court of BiH," Župljanin said. He pointed out that unity in the National Assembly and among the Serb people is the best guarantee that there will be no rewriting of history, loss of Serb national and cultural identity, or removal of the Serbian prefix from everything that the Serb people have created throughout history in these areas. "This is an insurmountable barrier to the continued creation of the so-called false 'Bosnian heritage', because these values have always been and will remain the national, cultural and religious heritage of the Serb people, which has been preserved and safeguarded to this day. Greater colonial and occupying powers failed to seize it throughout history, and Bećirović will fail too," Župljanin stressed. If Bećirović's intentions are not halted, Župljanin believes it will lead to significantly stronger attacks on the property of Republika Srpska, its institutions, and everything that embodies the core values of the Serb people, with freedom being the most important among them. "It is obvious that everything Serbian bothers him, toward which he openly expresses pathological hatred and uses lies, manipulation and deception. He will once again try to use and abuse the unconstitutional Constitutional Court of BiH, which has so far, for the most part, carried out the wishes and demands of the Bosniak political elite related to the dismantling of Republika Srpska," Župljanin said. He assessed that it is unrealistic to expect the Constitutional Court of BiH to change its previous practice and begin issuing decisions in accordance with the Constitution of BiH and the constitutions of the entities, adding that Republika Srpska needs to prepare an institutional legal response to possible decisions by the Court. "Also, it is unrealistic to expect the Bosniak political elites to understand and accept that Republika Srpska is firmly determined to decide its own future and that it will not seek anyone's approval, especially not that of political Sarajevo, to defend and protect its constitutional position guaranteed by the Dayton Agreement, the Constitution of BiH and the Constitution of Republika Srpska," Župljanin concluded. The National Assembly of Republika Srpska confirmed the veto by the Serb member of the BiH Presidency, Željka Cvijanović, on the decision on the appointment of members of the Commission to Preserve National Monuments in BiH. This means that the decision of the BiH Presidency, which is disputed by Republika Srpska, will not enter into force; the conclusions adopted by the National Assembly reject attempts to redefine the rights of the Serb people and the Serbian Orthodox Church to tangible and intangible heritage and to impose the so-called Bosnian identity.
