SLADOJE: NO ONE HAS BEEN HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR CRIME AT ROGOJ AND SUFFERING OF SERBS

ROGOJ, JULY 30 /SRNA/ – Kalinovik Mayor Radomir Sladoje stated that what happened at the Rogoj mountain pass during the last war is well known, but no one has ever been held accountable for the suffering of Serbs.

ROGOJ, JULY 30 /SRNA/ – Kalinovik Mayor Radomir Sladoje stated that what happened at the Rogoj mountain pass during the last war is well known, but no one has ever been held accountable for the suffering of Serbs.

"There are surviving soldiers, those who were taken prisoner, and everything that happened is known. Unfortunately, no one has been convicted for that crime," Sladoje told the press at the Rogoj pass, between Trnovo and Kalinovik, where a memorial service was held today and wreaths were laid at the memorial honoring the Serb soldiers and civilians killed at that location. A large number of Serb soldiers were killed there on July 30, 1992, while defending a strategically important position and protecting the withdrawal route for Serb civilians from Trnovo as they retreated in the face of Muslim forces. Sladoje pointed out that young people from the municipalities of Kalinovik, Trnovo, Foča, and Gacko lost their lives during the war in the creation of Republika Srpska, emphasizing that their sacrifice must not be forgotten. The memorial at Rogoj bears the names of 69 fallen Serb heroes from Kalinovik, Trnovo, Gacko, Bileća, Foča, Nevesinje, and Pale. The names engraved include members of the Pržulj, Anđić, Badnjar, Bjeloglav, Bajović, Višnjevac, Vujičić, Vlačić, Veljović, Vlaški, Govedarica, Golijanin, Drašković, Dragović, Drobnjak, Elez, Elek, Ždrale, Jokić, Koprivica, and Popović families who were killed. As part of the Day of Remembrance for the Serb victims of Trnovo, a Divine Liturgy was previously served at the Church of St. George, followed by a memorial service and the laying of wreaths at the municipality's central memorial.
