SNIPER RIFLE DESIGNED FOR LONG-RANGE PRECISION, SUITABLE FOR BOTH TACTICAL AND SPORT SHOOTING
BANJA LUKA, JULY 30 /SRNA/ – The sniper rifle presented today in Zalužani can be used for both tactical and sporting purposes and is designed for long-range precision shooting in accordance with internationally accepted standards, it was announced today at the shooting range of the Training Centre in Zalužani, outside Banja Luka.
The rifle's designer, retired gunsmith Predrag Igrutinović, told the press that he had devoted much of his career to firearms manufacturing and design. "The rifle is 308 calibre. It is a tactical-sport rifle, meaning it can be used for both sporting and tactical purposes. It is a precision rifle intended for long-range shooting in line with internationally accepted standards. It is a NATO-standard calibre," Igrutinović said. He stressed that the rifle was designed to be compatible with components that are widely manufactured around the world for firearms and platforms. "This is the first phase of testing. The next step is the production of 20 rifles in order to establish the technology for serial production. After that, a small production could begin to assess further development," Igrutinović said, adding that the results so far had been satisfactory. The director of the Banja Luka-based company "Kosmos", Dušan Vještica, said the sniper rifle had been developed using the company's own technologies, with significant support from the Republika Srpska Ministry of Interior, which defined the tactical requirements. Vještica stressed that a high-quality product could not be developed without clearly defined tactical requirements. "Minister Željko Budimir, together with his team, the Special Operations Unit, enabled carrying out testing and adjustments that led to a product that demonstrated outstanding results today," Vještica told the press after the presentation of the sniper rifle prototype at the Training Centre's shooting range in Zalužani. The prototype sniper rifle, developed by the Banja Luka-based company "Kosmos" in cooperation with the Republika Srpska Ministry of Interior, was officially presented today at the Training Centre's shooting range in Zalužani. The presentation was attended by Republika Srpska Prime Minister Savo Minić, Minister of Interior Željko Budimir, and Republika Srpska Police Director Siniša Kostrešević.
