THE SO-CALLED KOSOVO POLICE MEMBERS BEAT SERB IN ZUBIN POTOK
ZUBIN POTOK, AUGUST 11 /SRNA/ – Members of the so-called Kosovo Police raided the family home of Nenad Rašković in the village of Dren, the municipality of Zubin Potok, this afternoon, beat him, took him into the woods and tied him to a tree, demanding that he confess to committing war crimes against Albanians, the Serb List said.
According to Rašković’s account, they began beating him for no reason after searching his home, then took him to a nearby forest, tied him to a tree and brutally beat him with a water hose, causing multiple injuries and, according to initial information, fractured ribs. Rašković noted that during the abuse they demanded that he confess to having committed war crimes against Albanians during the war, after which they left him tied to the tree. He was freed with the help of friends and taken to the Health Centre in Zubin Potok, and then to the Clinical Hospital Centre in Kosovska Mitrovica, where he is currently undergoing medical observation and assessment of the extent of his injuries. Residents of the village of Dren said that Rašković is an honest and honourable man with no blemish on his record who has never had any problems with the law, according to the Serb List statement. The Serb List strongly condemned the alleged brutal treatment of Rašković and demanded an immediate, independent and full investigation into all circumstances of the case, as well as accountability for everyone involved. It called on representatives of the international community, KFOR and EULEX to urgently investigate all allegations concerning the incident and take measures within their competences to establish the facts and ensure the protection of citizens’ rights and security. The Serb List said that reports have emerged that similar cases of torture and beatings have occurred involving other citizens, but that they did not report them out of fear.
